The deal was signed in late May and finalized four months later, marking an exciting new chapter for one of Michigan’s most respected names in performance engineering.
Under the direction of Garry Franklin, General Manager of Katech Engineering, the company has remained a driving force in the motorsports and aftermarket performance industries, supplying advanced engines and components to racing circuits from Le Mans to Daytona. The acquisition by Rapson Performance Group ensures that Katech’s passion for “car guys building for car guys” will continue. The new investment and leadership will be focused on automotive performance innovation.
Michigan Business Broker assembled a strong transaction team that guided the process from start to finish, including Jeff Buzzerio of Lunchpail Capital, Marcus Ferrari of Commercial Finance Partners, and Tony Uttley, CEO of Ingenuity, Katech’s parent company.

With support from Joe Nafsu and Birmingham Title, the deal closed smoothly achieving a strong return for the seller and a high-value acquisition for the buyer.

Katech Engineering has been a fixture in the automotive racing world for decades, powering championship-winning efforts in IMSA, Le Mans, SCCA, Indy, Dakar, Grand-Am and others.

Katech Engineering’s install facility is fully integrated with a 44,000-square-foot climate-controlled headquarters in Clinton Township. Designed for precision and efficiency, the vehicle upfit and integration center allows on-site installations of high-performance engines, components, and complete vehicle packages.
Katech’s professional engineering staff, advanced CNC machining, engine assembly, dyno testing, and expert calibration services all will remain under the new leadership.
